Why Nigerians Should Elect Me President In 2019 – Ezekwesili

Obiageli Ezekwesili, former Education Minister, has stated why Nigerians should elect her as President in the 2019 general election.

Mrs Ezekwesili, the candidate of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), said it was time Nigerians stopped recycling old and outdated leaders in the country.

She was instrumental to the start of the viral #BringBackOurGirls campaign on social media, which trended internationally.

Addressing a world press conference on Monday with the theme: “For Those Who Say We Cannot Win,” the former minister warned Nigerians against re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari.

The text of her address was reproduced through her twitter handle.

She said the president has now shown neither the capacity nor the aptitude for the highest office in the land.

She also advised Nigerians not to elect the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, as attempting to choose between the duo is like asking one to choose between death by poison or death by gunshot.

“Do you remember? The chant all across the country was ‘Anyone But Jonathan’. Sadly, that is how we ended up with this reprobate government,” Ezekwesili recalled.

“This time it is: ‘Anyone But Buhari’. And by that they mean that we should reinstate the failed PDP and its candidate, former vice president Atiku Abubakar because they think Atiku is the only person that can defeat Buhari in 2019.

“And in 2023, when Atiku and the PDP inevitably fail again, because a bad tree cannot bear good fruit, we will hear new chants of ‘Anyone But Atiku’.

“2019 cannot be ‘Anyone But Buhari’. Our country is not a recycling plant for uninspiring old men with their old ideas and old dubious characters. We deserve better than their aggressive mediocrity.

“And that is why I am running for president – to lead a people’s movement that will permanently terminate bad leadership, retire these incompetents and fight for every Nigerian.

“For those of you considering the PDP as an alternative, I really want to ask you: what is the thing that you see about them that is any different from the APC. Really? These people are the same: Siamese Twins of Failure.

“We cannot reject one oppressor and hand over to another oppressor. We do not love bondage. We do not enjoy suffering.

“These people are brothers and sisters of iniquity and impoverishment, merchants of failure and dissapointment.

“Six and a half years after, I had fought the fight that had to be fought from within, and then I left government knowing for sure that if this political order is not changed, the work of good governance that we do within government will never last.

“I decided not to re-enter government, rebuffing every request made since, and instead made a decision to dedicate my life to activating citizens to push these blood-sucking political class out of office.

She highlighted was her government would look like if elected President saying they would be no time for blame game.

“My leadership will not be by trial and error, and I will not spend my time making excuses and blaming others.

“An Oby Ezekwesili presidency will not only work to create an enabling environment for our young people to explore their greatest potentials and be globally competitive, but they will actually power the government.

“Because I know that the poor mother whose children will sleep without food tonight does not care about excuses or blame games. The 4 million Nigerians who lost their jobs last year do not have time for excuses or blame games.

“Leah Sharibu and the several other young girls whose futures are being snatched by terrorists do not have time for excuses or blame games. The small business owner who spends half of his earnings on generating his own power does not have time for excuses or blame games.

“They want results, results, results. They want tried and tested leadership; a leadership that is data-driven, independent-minded and solutions-centred.

“You know my record. You know that when I say it, I do it. You know that when I promise it, I keep my word.

“Don’t you finally deserve a president you know can and will do what she says she will do – no stories, no hidden agenda, no dodgy friends; just working every day for you and our children?

“Are we not tired of managing poverty, and death, and destruction?

“How sad it will be if we choose to reelect incompetence, stagnation and mediocrity. How equally sad it will be if we elect a shady, unprincipled individual who hops from one party to another every election season and has a corruption file in the United States Department of State.

“Our agenda is about creating wealth – growing the pie exponentially, creating jobs, building shared prosperity and taking at least 80 million Nigerians out of poverty.

“The agenda is to mobilize the energies of the people and our private sector, invest in upgrading our capacity capabilities to compete globally, and end the bad policies which have turned Nigeria into Poverty Central.

“Importantly, our actions will center on mobilizing the youth, building and adopting science and technology to disrupt the status quo in every sector, implementing reforms and reorganization to reduce bureaucracy, and making government a partner instead of an enemy of progress,” Ezekwesili added.

Lagos Set To Commission Modern Ferry Terminal, New Ilaje-Bariga Road

In furtherance of the intermodal transportation system of Lagos State Government, all is now set for the commissioning of an ultra-modern ferry terminal and new access road in Ilaje-Bariga area of the State.

The State Government, in a statement on Sunday by Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Ade Akinsanya, said the ferry terminal and the newly upgraded road were part of the initiatives of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration to further scale up the integrated transportation initiative of the State Government aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity within the State.

According to him, the access road and the terminal would be commissioned by the State Government by mid-November 2018.
Giving details, Akinsanya said: “The terminal situated at the tail end of the upgraded Ilaje Road which provides access to the terminal from Akoka Road, abuts the lagoon front facing the Third Mainland Bridge.

“The state-of-the-art terminal sitting on a reclaimed land area of over 2000 square meter, has a parking facility that will accommodate no fewer than 150 cars and ample space for park and ride buses for those that will want to park their cars to get to their various destinations through the terminal by ferry.”

He added that ferry services would be provided from the terminal to connect other existing terminals such as Ipakodo and Badore in Ikorodu axis, Badore in Ajah axis, recently commissioned Five Cowrie Creek Terminal in Falomo, Marina Terminal, among others.

The Commissioner said the Ilaje terminal, in addition to a well-lit surrounding, had been designed with other complementary facilities such as ticketing office, passengers seating area, restaurant, mini mart, shops, toilets, seat-out area for relaxation, boatyard as well as security watchtowers.

On the road, he said the newly upgraded 1.1km Ilaje Road with carriageway and width of 8meters, is equipped with a bicycle lane, street lights as well as covered side drains which serve as a walkway.

“Transportation in Lagos is predominantly road-based and it is pertinent to state that the administration of Governor Ambode has made concerted efforts to reduce the pressure on the roads with the aim of promoting an integrated transportation system.

“In this quest, the administration is progressively taking advantage of the vast waterways that Lagos is endowed with by embarking on waterfront infrastructure projects including dredging of predetermined viable waterways routes to provide alternative and reduce the travel time of road users,” Akinsanya said.

He said aside from the new road and ferry terminal in Ilaje, a new transportation and tourism hub was being proposed at Oworonshoki by the foot of Third Mainland Bridge, which is a stone throw from the Ilaje Terminal.

“The reclamation of the area is presently at an advanced stage and it is designed to accommodate another ferry terminal, shopping areas, bus terminals, and relaxation facilities.

“With the commissioning of the Ilaje terminal, the residents of Bariga, Akoka and environs will, among other benefits, enjoy shortened travel time to their destinations under a more relaxed and stress-free condition. It would also result into savings in transport cost and reduction in vehicle maintenance cost aggravated by the present condition of our roads that State Government is assiduously working upon,” Akinsanya said.

'We Are Not In Business Of Deceiving Nigerians' – Osinbajo

by Adeyinka Akintunde

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is not in the business of deceiving Nigerians.

He spoke as a guest on Brekete Family Programme, Human Rights Radio, that airs on FM 101.1MHz, where he interacted with the Anchor, Ahmad Isah, aka ‘Ordinary President’.

Brekete Family Programme is a reality radio programme that that prides itself as the voice of the voiceless.

The Vice President also said that the administration was for the common man with the focus to take Nigerians out of poverty.

According to him, government programmes and projects were geared towards achieving that objective.

Responding to Ahmed Isah, who asked what the Buhari’s administration had for the common man that voted them to power, Osinbajo said, ”We are not in the business of deceiving Nigerians, whatever the President, and I say is the truth.”

He also described himself as “ordinary Vice President” and explained that the administration’s National Social Investment Programmes was geared towards improving the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

He said, “The President’s focus has always been on the common man. This government is government of the masses. Our concentration is how things will be better for the masses. So, when we came, we decided on a few things to tackle youth unemployment.

“First, the N-Power programme to engage as many young people who are graduates as possible. We have employed 500,000 so far. Many are teachers, health workers and project assistants in farms.

“The major thing is for us is how to employ more than 500,000. There is also N-Built where we have trained 25,000 who want to be technicians, mechanics etc.” he said.

Osinbajo also talked about the Trader Moni where petty traders get a loan of N10,000 with six months grace period to pay back, stressing that the target was to reach two million petty traders with such loans.

He said once a trader paid back the loan, he or she would be entitled to another N15,000 loan and it would continue like that until one was qualified for a loan of N350,000.

He said at the inception of the administration in 2015, they met 23 states owing salaries and despite the fact that oil prices were above $100 per barrel, states were owing salaries.

He said the states were bailed out three times to enable them pay salaries and pension.

Osinbajo, again narrated how Buhari’s administration unlike the previous government that had a lot of resources as a result of oil price of over $100 per barrel, had to battle with little resources occasioned by oil price of between $28 and $35, disruptions by Niger Delta militants boosting pipes and forcing oil production to drop from 2.1 million to less than one million per barrel.

He noted that President Buhari stopped the looting of the treasury which was common under previous administration, adding that once corruption was stopped, the federal government would be able to provide infrastructure which includes power, railroads and among others.

But Ahmed Isah told Osinbajo that Buhari’s government was perceived not to be friendly with the common man.

He presented the case of a widow whose merchandise was unnecessarily confiscated by Customs officers after taking N200,000 bribe from her.

He narrated how some Customs officers were in the habit of illegally confiscating citizens vehicles and goods hiding under duty fees.

The presenter said that by conduct, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) portrays itself as the most corrupt agency in Nigeria and beyond.
Responding to complaint, Osinbajo promised to step into the case involving the Customs and the widow.

He said, “I will look into this Customs matter. We must resolve it. We will make sure those people mentioned will be held to account.”

The presenter also reported to Osinbajo that Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company was over billing customers and was one of the institutions giving the government a bad name.

He said documents which took him six months to gather proved the corrupt practices going on in the company.

He said the money that has been stolen from the company which has 47 staff since inception was more than 11 states budget combined.

Isah while challenging the Vice President to investigate the allegations, said he was ready to go to prison if his climes are proven to be lies
Osinbajo also responded to the complaints about the school feeding programme in some parts of Ogun state by a caller from abroad, Osinbajo promised to look into the complaints and revealed that 9.2 million children enjoy the benefits in school feeding programme daily.

He also said all the produce is from local farmers with at least 6.8m eggs used daily to improve the economy.

He also promised to appoint two aides from his office as liaison officers to the programme to gather first hand complains that will enable the government intervened.

Nnamdi Kanu: How I Was Smuggled Out Of Nigeria During Operation Python Dance

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has revealed how he escaped during the military clamp down on the secessionist group.

In an interview with Israeli TV Channel 1, Kanu said he was “smuggled out” of the country with the help of relatives.

IPOB was the target of a Nigerian army operation code-named Operation Python Dance, launched in the south-east.

While the group was banned, Kanu went out of public glare until two weeks ago when video of him in Israel resurfaced on social media.

In the interview, Kanu alleged that 28 persons were killed during the army operation, which was largely felt around his father’s residence in Umahia, Abia state.

“When I came out (of prison), I continued to preach to my people. I continued to practise my Jewish religion,” he said.

“And one day, the Nigerian army came to my house to kill me. They killed 28 people in their attempt to kill me.

“My people evacuated me before they came to my bedroom. They took me away and smuggled me out of Nigeria. I needed some time to recover which I did and then, had to make my way to Israel.”

The IPOB leader added that he feels “relieved” that he “managed to make it” to Israel, “the only place I feel safe in the world.”

He said he could have gone back to England (where he had been for years) “but I still don’t feel safe in England. That is why I stayed back in Israel.”

PRP Confirms Shehu Sani Its Kaduna Central Senatorial Candidate

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) says Shehu Sani is its candidate for Kaduna Central senatorial zone in the 2019 election.

The senator recently joined PRP from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after a protracted dispute with his former party’s leadership in the state.

The chairman of PRP in Kaduna State, Tom Maiyashi, disclosed this on Monday in a chat with journalists .

According to him, Mr Sani has already been registered as a full member of PRP after his defection to the party.

Mr Tom said by joining the party, the outspoken senator has only returned home because his ideology matches that of PRP.

“I wish to confirm that he is the candidate that will be contesting under our party for Kaduna Central Senatorial district. He has been fully registered at his ward six Tudun Wada ward in Kaduna South local government Area of the state.

‎”Senator Shehu Sani’s ideology has always been that of the PRP, so to us he has just come back home and we are happy he has returned,'” he said.

‎The party chairman also said that before Mr Sani joined the party, someone purchased the party’s nomination form for the senatorial ticket but on his own decided to step down. The chairman thus indicated the party would write the electoral commission, INEC, to substitute the former candidate’s name with that of Mr Sani.

He, therefore, appealed to the electorate to vote for all PRP candidates across the country in the general elections.

“As a party, we are committed to providing good governance for Kaduna and other states where we are fielding candidates,” he said.

He further explained that the National Chairman of the party, Falalu Bello, will be its governorship candidate in Kaduna State.

Mr Maiyashi described Messrs Sani and Bello as people with intellectual capacity to provide good and qualitative governance for the good people of the state.

Peter Obi: We’re Focused On How To Create Jobs — Not Learning ‘Shaku Shaku'

Peter Obi, running mate to Atiku Abubakar, presiedential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the period Nigeria is in calls for sober reflection and not for dancing “Shaku Shaku.”

“Shaku Shaku” is a popular dance step common among entertainers and young Nigerians.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had said he is learning the dance step ahead of the 2019 general election.

Speaking with journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja upon his arrival from Dubai on Monday, Obi said the Atiku team is spending its time thinking of how to create jobs and not learning how to dance “Shaku Shaku.”

“I have not had the opportunity of reading his comments as I haven’t seen the dailies. I know Vice-President Osibanjo is a gentleman and may not have made such a comment,” Obi said.

“However, while I am not against people dancing or learning how to dance ‘Shaku Shaku’, as I believe it is one of those things that is keeping our people going on in this very difficult times, I believe that the crossroads that we have found ourselves in as a nation requires sober reflection.

“For me in particular, this period calls for sober reflection not dancing or learning how to dance as there are many challenges facing our nation at the moment. Not the least being recently having our country named the world headquarters of extreme poverty with over eighty seven million people. Worse still millions more are losing their jobs, with four million by the third quarter of this year alone.

“Millions of Nigerians go to bed hungry not knowing where the meal for the next day will come from, hundreds of thousands risk death by crossing the Sahara and the Mediterranean Sea to wherever they can make a living.

“These and other challenges are indicative of the dire straits facing us as a nation today. And these are what we on the Atiku team are spending our time with the best minds on how to start creating jobs and putting food on people’s table. We must get Nigeria to start working again for the good of everyone.”

Super Falcons Withdraw From Turkey Invitational Tournament

The Super Falcons have pulled out of an invitational women’s tournament in Turkey due to logistics.

The Nigerian ladies were due to travel on Monday ahead of their opening match against Kazakhstan on Wednesday but did not have enough time to secure visas due to their participation in the WAFU Women’s Cup in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Falcons were in action in Abidjan only on Saturday, where they defeated Mali 2-1 to win the bronze medal at the inaugural WAFU Women’s Cup.

The eight-team tournament in Turkey would have been the African champions’ second tournament in 2018 after the WAFU Women’s Cup for a team that did not play any football for over one year.

The Super Falcons had not been involved in any sort of action since winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in December 2016 until the WAFU Women’s Cup this February.

“It was impossible for the team to sort visas and make it to the tournament in Turkey, so they had to pull out,” Nigeria Football Federation spokesman Ademola Olajire explained BBC Sport.

“They only just finished playing the Wafu Cup on Saturday and had a short time-frame to sort out visas and other important logistics for the trip to Turkey.

“Importantly, attention and preparations will shift towards the big friendly against France in April.”

How FG & Boko Haram Negotiated Ceasefire, Release Of Militants - Lawal Daura

The Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Lawal Daura, has given rare details of how the Nigerian government negotiated with Boko Haram for the release of abducted oil explorers and policewomen.

The police officers were abducted in June 20, 2017 while travelling from Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, to Askira Uba local government area to attend a burial.

The lecturers were part of a team of geophysicists searching for oil in the Lake Chad Basin, on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

The abductees were released on February 10. They were received by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.

Addressing the president and the abductees, the SSS boss, Mr. Daura, identified Jummai Ibrahim as the victim who was serving as a youth corps member at the time of her abduction.

He said she could have passed out at the end of the last batch in 2017.

Other female abductees are Esther Kwasina, Amina Gomdiya, Gloria Bulus, Paulina Amos and Tani Audu, a final year student at the University of Maiduguri.

He later gave details of how the negotiation happened. It is however unclear what terms were finally agreed upon for the kidnapped officials to be released.

“Mr. President, the search and negotiations for the rescue of the victims commenced in earnest following your directives to the effect that all abducted persons must be found and rescued alive,” Mr. Daura said.

“However, we chose the path of negotiation because it was considered as the safest because any forceful attempt to rescue the victims could endanger their lives.

“These negotiations took several months and the Department of State Services with support of the external elements of the group in diaspora and support from friendly countries and liaising with International Committee of the Red Cross, made the rescue possible,” he said.

Mr. Daura also said the process of the rescue slowed due to the problem of dealing with two different groups based in different locations at the same time.

“In addition, the negotiations took place mostly outside the country, though subsequently finalised in the theatre of operations.

“The negotiations were mainly centered on an attempt at conflict mitigation which include the fate of arrested members of the insurgent groups especially, accepting to free by government those found not to be culpable in any criminal action.

“Also, possible cessation of hostilities especially the attacks with IEDs on innocent civilians, worship centres, schools and other public places in return for temporary stoppage of air strikes by helicopter gunships.

“Lastly, the negotiation was also centered on the possibility of granting amnesty to those willing to surrender and ready to lay down their arms by the federal government,” he said.

A geophysics lecturer, Solomon Yusuf, spoke at the event on behalf of the released abductees.

“While we were in captivity and we said with 180 million or more Nigerians, will Nigeria ever come to rescue us? We lost hope! Sir, you surprised us. After seven months for us in the university and eight months for the 10 ladies, Nigeria rescued us. This shows that the life of every Nigerian is important and is worth rescuing.

“Sir, we are grateful. You gave us hope when there was no hope And we are excited, we thank you Sir, Mr. Yusuf said.

“We also want to appreciate the DSS, the Nigerian armed forces, and the entire team that worked together to make sure we regained our freedom. We appreciate the labour of love they have shown to us.

“We also want to appreciate Nigerians for praying. We were informed that the entire nation was praying for us and we were excited and we said, ‘Oh God what is this?’ This is love. Sir, we are grateful.

“Sir, from the university, it is a golden opportunity for us to see you and to share our fears and concern because we were abducted while working for the nation. And right now going back home to us is still a nightmare because of our experiences.

“Sir we have this golden plea with all due respect. Sir, if there is an opportunity for us to be relocated and maybe given another job, Sir, this is our golden request. This is the only opportunity we have to share with you. But we appreciate everything done, the sacrifice you have given to us. Thank you Sir.”

Dapchi Abduction: Stop Your Crocodile Tears, PDP Tells FG, APC

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday told the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop shedding crocodile tears and provide answers to urgent questions surrounding the abduction of schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party insisted that the Buhari Presidency had a lot of questions to answer regarding the alleged compromising of security around the area as well as the misleading reports that frustrated immediate rescue of the abducted girls.

It said: “Nigerians have been in shock over revelations by the Yobe State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, that the abduction was preceded by withdrawal of troops around Dapchi, thereby rendering the area defenceless and paving the way for insurgents to attack and abduct our girls.

“We challenge the Presidency to come out clean on issues surrounding this abduction. Who authorized the said withdrawal of troops from the area and for what purpose? What were alternative security measures put in place to protect the people after the troops were withdrawn? Who controls security intelligence gathering and consequential protection action and what action was taken to guarantee adequate security in the area?

“Furthermore, we charge the Federal Government to open up on who scripted and released the false rescue report which frustrated prompt action that would have led to the recovery of our innocent girls? Why was that misleading report issued and whose interest did it serve?

“Indeed, from all indications, every right thinking Nigerian has deduced that there are more than meet the eyes in this ugly episode for which those in authority have a lot of questions to answer.

“We invite the world to note that after exposing the community to harm and frustrating prompt rescue, the incompetent APC-controlled Federal Government has not taken any concrete step to give the abductors the desired chase to recover our girls.

“Rather, they sent a delegation of persons with no knowledge of security to Dapchi on fact-finding missions.

“The PDP and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians are appalled by the crocodile tears being shed by the incompetent and deceptive APC-Federal Government instead of scaling up actions on the matter.

“It is on this note that we call on our security agencies to stand up to the challenge and do their professional best to ensure the safe return of our girls.”

The PDP joined in prayers with parents of our girls, the entire Dapchi community and “all victims of mindless atrocities against Nigerians under the incompetent and deceptive APC-led Federal Government even as we collectively seek a solution at this trying time.”

We’ll Secure Release Of All Abducted Persons – Buhari

President Muhamamdu Buhari on Monday promised that his administration would ensure the safe return of all those abducted by the Boko Haram sect, including the 110 students of the Government Science and Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State.

Buhari made the promise at the Presidential Villa, Abuja while receiving three University of Maiduguri lecturers, one policewoman and nine other women rescued from the insurgents.

In a series of messages he posted on his Twitter handle, @MBuhari, the President said he assured his guests that nobody would be left behind in captivity.

“I can’t fully express the joy I felt this afternoon, as I received our citizens recently released from Boko Haram captivity—fathers, mothers, sons, daughters. We will go to any length to ensure that no one is left behind in the hands of terrorists. Every Nigerian life matters,” he wrote.

The President added, “There were the University of Maiduguri lecturers, abducted while on service to their fatherland, and also the women abducted from a funeral procession.

“Today they are safely back home, and Nigeria rejoices with them and with their families.

“They told me that they had given up all hopes of ever coming back alive. I assured them that we will never give up on any of our citizens.

“I have asked the security agencies to ensure that every abducted person—including the Dapchi girls—is safely released.”

Dapchi School Where Boko Haram Kidnapped 110 Girls

Fears grew in northeast Nigeria about the fate of potentially scores of girls who have not been seen since a Boko Haram attack on their school days ago.

Militants stormed the Government Girls Science Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe state, Nigeria.

Locals initially said the girls and their teachers fled the attack.

The jihadists gained worldwide notoriety in April 2014 when they abducted 276 girls from their school in Chibok, in neighbouring Borno state.

Islamic Cleric Hypnotises Childless Women, Takes Their Money, Sleeps With Them

By Dayo Johnson, Akure
SEEKING spiritual assistance from Oladele Ayuba, an lslamic cleric in Arigidi-Akoko area of Akoko North West, Ondo State, after being battered by life challenges, is like jumping from frying pan to fire or, better still, entering the lions’ den to be devoured.

*Left: Ayuba (third right) with some security agents; right;: The car and charms allegedly recovered from him

Instead of taking the burden off the shoulders of his clients, the cleric allegedly added to it by defrauding them and having carnal knowledge of some of the women.
He was alleged to have defrauded his clients to the tune of N36m after hypnotising them.

Sunday Vanguard investigation showed that the cleric, nicknamed ‘Young, also allegedly had his hands in kidnapping and ritual killings.

The paramount traditional ruler of the town, the Zaki of Arigidi-Akoko, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, banished Ayuba from the town following reports of his alleged shady deals.

Olanipekun wrote a letter to security agents to lodge a complaint on the alleged criminal activities of the cleric.

The Oba alleged that the cleric had his fingers in nefarious activities ranging from kidnapping to ritual killing, sex with childless women seeking spiritual help and fraud.

According to him, many alleged crimes said to have been committed in the town and environs were traceable to Ayuba.

The traditional ruler was quoted to have said that he did not want to see the suspect in his community anymore.

Ayuba is presently in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command.

Speaking on the activities of the suspect, a resident of Arigidi-Akoko revealed that Ayuba would instil fear in the minds of those seeking spiritual help from him after they might have been hypnotised and assured of spiritual cleansing.

It was learnt that his victims include those who visited him for solution to spiritual matters ranging from barrenness to lack of husband, spiritual attack, stagnation at work, lack of good job and terminal diseases.

“He would request for money from his clients to help them prepare fetish substances that would deliver them from their enemies”, the resident, who spoke anonymously for fear of reprisal, said.

The cleric reportedly had a shrine where, the moment victims entered, would lose their senses and then remotely be controlled to look for money at all costs.

Ayuba, according to one of the victims, always warned them not to tell anybody failure which their problems would double and they would eventually die.

He was paraded alongside two other suspects for alleged offences, including obtaining by false pretence, illegal possession of counterfeit money and vandalism of transformer, by the State Command of the NSCDC.

The Corps Commandant, Pedro Awili Ideba, gave the names of the two other suspects as Abiodun Oluwaseun and Jayeola Tosin.

Pedro said Ayuba, who claimed to be an Islamic cleric, was involved in advanced fee fraud and had duped many who went to him for prayer of various amounts ranging from N300, 000 to N36m.

According to him, “but he was arrested following a complaint by one of his victims, Tajudeen Ekundayo, who lost N4.3m”.

He went on, “Immediately the complaint was lodged at the Command headquarters, my men swung into action and arrested the man who is alleged to be the kingpin of a syndicate in Arigidi-Akoko while other members are still at large”.

Pedro alleged that several criminal activities, ranging from kidnapping to ritual killing and fraud, had been traced to the cleric who, according to him, hailed from Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Commandant recalled that Oba Olanipekun had petitioned the State Command of the NSCDC to lodge a complaint about “criminal activities, including kidnapping, ritual killing and fraud, traced to Ayuba”.

He added, “Oba Olanipekun has given instruction that he does not want to see the man in his community anymore because he is a bad example to youths”.

Sunday Vanguard was informed that youths of the town equally advised him to return to llorin where he came from.

Petrol said items recovered from the cleric include fetish items, blood stained clothes and a car with customised registration number ‘Young 1’.

Also paraded was one Abiodun Oluwaseun, who allegedly belonged to a gang which specialized in the printing and spending of counterfeit Naira, saying he was arrested after using N 24,000 fake N1, 000 notes to buy goods from a provision seller.

According to Pedro, the woman reported the case to the State Command and the men of the Corps trailed the syndicate and arrested one of its members while others remained at large.

The Commandant added that one Jayeola Tosin, known as Asala, was also arrested in Ikare-Akoko for vandalizing transformer cables.

According to him, the suspect was arrested by men of the Nigerian Army and handed over to the Corps for investigation.
Pedro assured that justice would prevail in all the matters.[/quote]

Simple Beginners Guide To Going Natural In Nigeria + Starter Kit

I’ve been natural for three years and it’s been a journey. And a not-so-easy one too, there are many things I wish I had known before embarking on this journey but it took a lot of learning and re-learning to get me this far. There are lots of content on the internet that will leave you misinformed especially when you’re new to the natural hair game. So here is my personal gift to you, a simple beginners’ guide to going natural.

Simple is the way to go
If you were looking for a long post about some complicated natural hair routine or natural hair regimen, then you’ve come to the wrong place. In fact from past experience, I can say that doing the most with your hair only impedes your hair health and growth. The simplest regimens are the best. My last-born sibling is just 5 and her hair is longer than mine (and she’s cut it twice). So we have both been natural for roughly the same number of years. But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt from her hair it’s that the simpler the better. All we do is moisturize and protect her hair and I started applying the same method to my hair too.

Step 1: Moisturize
Bantu knot out

Natural hair needs moisture, especially in our harsh weather. Dry hair is the number one cause of hair breakage, so you might think your hair is not growing but in reality it’s breaking faster than you can retain the length. The most popular technique for keeping your hair moisturized is the LOC method also known as LCO method. The L in LOC stands for liquid. Your hair needs water, water is life; so your liquid can either be water or a water-based product. You first spray water over your entire hair. Next is O, which stands for Oil; the oil is a sealant that keeps the water sealed into your hair strand, you can use coconut, olive oil or any other oil of your choice. While the final C stands for Cream; the cream helps to close the hair cuticle and keep both oil and water sealed in. You can use a leave-in conditioner for your cream, shea butter or any moisturizing natural hair cream.

Step 2: Protect

The next step is to do protective styles. The key to letting your hair grow is keeping it protected, you can leave out your afro once in a while but over-exposure to sun and harmattan really is not good for the hair. There are numerous protective natural hair styles to choose from; bantu knots, twists, finger coils, flat twists, thread and our usual African styles like all-back, etc. If you like variety, I’ll suggest doing all-back and rocking wigs, but don’t forget to keep your hair moisturized. For hair growth, low manipulation is key, instead of changing hairstyles every day or week, you can try one protective style every month, do this regularly while keeping your hair moisturized and I promise you, your hair will grow. Unfortunately, I love manipulating my hair a lot and I don’t mind the length because it’s not a competition, I just like to style my hair in different beautiful ways, you can say I’m obsessed. My point is, if you’re worried about length, keep manipulation minimal.

Natural Hair Beginners Kit

There are some things you’d need for this journey, let’s just call it a starter kit.

Satin pillowcase or bonnet – The usual cotton pillowcases are bad news for your hair and even skin. Satin silk reduces friction so using it will reduce friction, keep your hair neat and minimize tangles. It is also great for your facial skin because unlike abrasive material like cotton, wool, etc, satin doesn’t draw in moisture from your skin, it simply glides instead of pulling on your skin thereby reducing wrinkles and acne. Keep in mind that you should wash your pillowcase every few days or at least once a week to remove natural oils from your face/hair and product residue as this can clog your skin pores.
Leave-in conditioner
Deep conditioner
Spray bottle
Oil
Moisturizing Cream
Wide-tooth comb
Edge control and small brush – To get those sleek edges
Satin/silk scarf – To lay down those sleek edges, can also be used in place of bonnet or pillowcase
Hair clips, pins and accessories

Oluseun Bakare, Oludamilola Osinbajo's Husband-To-Be Is RCCG Pastor, Not Muslim

News spread last week that the Vice President's daughter, Dami Osibanjo is set to marry a Muslim man. This news has however been debunked by the Senior Special Assistant to the VP on Media & Publicity, Laolu Akande and he stated that the Olusegun Bakare is not a Muslim, but a pastor at an RCCG church parish.

He stated that the fiance, Olusegun Bakare is a member of the RCCG Abuja Central Parish and even a Teenagers Pastor there.

He stated this in a tweet on twitter. And this comes as a revelation on the true religion of the Vice Presidnet's son-in-law to be.

The tweet reads,

In response to media inquiries, Oluseun Bakare to whom VP Osinbajo’s first born & daughter Oludamilola would be marrying, is a member of the RCCG Abuja Central Parish and Teenage church pastor there. We wish the blessed couple bliss!

— Laolu Akande (@akandeoj) February 17, 2018

Remember the Second Family had been criticised by many just last week that the news broke that the daughter of the VP, who is himself a pastor in the Redeemed Christain Church of God, is getting married to a Muslim man.

A lot of people claimed it is not about the religion, just as the pastor must have preached on the alter, but about the political connection that is set to come from the union.

The proposed wedding was even critisized by popular OAP, Daddy Freeze who maintained that if it was just an ordinary member of the church, the pastor would have disallowed the union, but for the fact that he is the Vice President and a top pastor, then it is just the right marriage.

Freeze referred to a case of another Redeemed pastor’s daughter Charity, who wanted to marry a Muslim, the whole CAN stepped out to stop the wedding.

Charity Uzoechina, the daughter of Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor, Raymond Uzoechina, who made headlines with her story of conversion to Islam, was set to marry the lawyer who handles her controversial case in court but the Niger state Government called it off and the Christian Association of Nigeria was also against the marriage.

But it seems the air has now being cleared as it is now obvious that Olusegun Bakare is a Christian and not a Muslim just as widely broadcasted.
