Jonah Jang the Senator representing
Plateau North Senatorial District in the national assembly has expressed
shock and horror at the abominable slaying of the paramount chief of
Bokkos LGA, His Royal Highness the Saf Ron, Lazarus Agai.
Jang described the ambush and killing of
the paramount ruler as a sacrilege, an abominable act and totally
disrespectful to the good people of Bokkos LGA, the Saf Ron traditional
crown/throne, citizens of Plateau state and the entire traditional
institutions of the state.
Cautioning, that the desecration of any
traditional “crown” through murder, usually leads to the community
bearing a grudge against the perpetrators, which could take generations
to heal. As such he expressed fears about how that could potentially
affect the peace process in Bokkos and the state at large.
He bemoaned the loss of the revered
monarch as irreplaceable –saying his wise counsel and uncommon wisdom
will be severely missed, in these perilous times of conflict, injustice,
attacks and killings.
The senator sympathized with the family
of the slain Saf Ron on their personal loss –asking that God gives them
the fortitude to bear the loss. He also prayed for the soul of the
departed monarch and asked God to grant him eternal rest.
In closing, Jang called on the security
forces to rise up to their responsibility by quickly bringing the
perpetrators of the act to book. He also advised all Plateau citizens to
remain vigilant and stand united against wicked people who continue to
scheme to dispossess natives of their heritage.
He called on Plateau
people (particularly the youth) to re-awaken their innermost “courage,
bravery and unity” in order to resist wicked elements who seek to kill
and weaken the “Plateau spirit” of love, togetherness, forgiveness,
freedom, justice and sacrifice. He said “when things like these happen,
the need to close ranks and hold hands in unity becomes imperative –
lets not be divided by anything – we must unite to stand a chance
against the forces against us”
