The suspension of Senator Shehu Sani has been upheld by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state.
Sani, representing Kaduna Central senatorial zone was given an 11
month suspension by the Tudun Wada ward of the APC in Kaduna state on
Monday, December 28 for various offences against the party.
The state publicity secretary of the party, Tanko-Wusono who affirmed
the suspension on Tuesday noted that the leadership had no option but
to uphold his suspension at the ward level, The Punch reports.
He said: “We hereby uphold the suspension of Comrade (Senator) Shehu Sani as a member of the party for the period of 11 months.
“By this suspension, he is to desist from all party activities until when the suspension is lifted.
“The party calls on all its members to be law abiding as we move forward to fulfil our campaign promises.”
According to him, the party had run out options to bring the senator
to order, noting that all efforts to make Sani appear before the party’s
leadership to clarify certain issues had failed.
Tanko-Wusono listed some of Sani’s offences to include; “undue
criticisms of policies and programmes of government both at the federal
and state levels and heaping insults and abuses on party leaders through
various media platforms.”
He also accused Sani of reckless statement against the Nigerian Army over the clash with members of the Shi’ite sect.
He stated that the party leadership had watched the activities of the senator with disdain over a period of time.
Reacting to Sani’s suspension, his special assistant on politics and ideology, Malam Suleiman Ahmed said nothing will deter the senator from criticising the “anti-people” policies of the Kaduna state government
