Just weeks after they spoke of marriage plans, we can reveal that Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter have gone on a break.
The couple have seemed loved up right up until last month, but sources say their relationship became strained as they constantly found themselves on opposite sides of the world.
They’ve decided to take a break to see if it’s time to call it a day.
It was Dougie’s 28th birthday, and Ellie, also 28, was noticeably quiet on social media.

3am first revealed that singer Ellie and Dougie, once the youngest member of McFly and now with McBusted, had become an item two years ago, when they met at the Cosmopolitan awards.

Ellie has spent the past month touring the US and Europe as she promotes her album, Delirium. In the last few weeks, she has been in LA, modelling at the Victoria’s Secret Show and making TV appearances. Last night, she was doing a gig in Dallas. Meanwhile, Dougie has been modelling.
The source says: “Globe trotting can really take its toll on any relationship, but it’s especially hard when work regularly demands that both sides have to be away.”
Ellie was asked just a few weeks ago whether she thought she was ready for marriage, and exclaimed: “God, yes!” She said that Dougie had “re-established her trust” in men.
