Manchester United have been hit by a major injury blow after defender Marcos Rojo suffered a serious shoulder injury in training on Wednesday.
And according to Old Trafford sources there are concerns the 25-year-old Argentinian left-sided star , signed for £16 million from Sporting Lisbon sixteen months ago, could be out for "weeks" and may need an operation.
It's believed Rojo was immediately taken for a scan after suffering the injury amid fears it could be a repeat of the dislocation he suffered against Manchester City at Old Trafford in November last year.
Rojo, who needed oxygen to control the pain before being stretchered off in the derby, was out for almost a month on that occasion but didn't have surgery.
The injury is a big set-back for boss Louis van Gaal who is already struggling to fill the left-back slot at United after losing England defender Luke Shaw for the season with a double leg break against PSV Eindhoven in September.

And it is a blow too for Rojo who has had a troubled season so far. The South American star angered Van Gaal by failing to turn up during United's summer tour to the USA and missed the first five weeks of the season getting fit.

Then in September, he annoyed his manager again by failing to alert medical staff that he had tweaked a hamstring during the 3-2 win at Southampton.
Rojo's injury may now force United's boss into the transfer market with the Dutchman admitting recently he may have to pursue a left back in January.
