Plateau State launched feeding program in schools with a poultry farm initiative for Sec Schools

Plateau State Commissioner of Education Joseph Mairiga Alexander said they will collaborate with NGO’s and stake holders to ensure that secondary schools in the state key into the feeding program of this present government. The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Elias Pwede disclosed this at the school feeding program held at education resource center Jos, the event had in attendance zonal directors of education and some principals of some secondary schools in the state.
The Commissioner said some schools have been selected to pilot the program adding that the ministry will intensify collaborating effort for the actualization of the program not only in government schools but also in private schools.
He lauded the initiative describing it as timely in a presentation titled ‘Poultry enterprise development and school feeding’, emphasizing the need for establishment of one government secondary school poultry farm in each of the senatorial zone of the state.
There were good will messages from the Ministry’s Director of School Service, a representative from the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as question and answer session.
