3 things you didn’t see on TV during AMVCA 2016

The Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2016 took place on Saturday at the Eko Convention Center of the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
For those who watched the event from the comfort of their homes via Africa Magic, YNaija, present at the event, spotted 3 things you didn’t see on TV.
And here they are…

1. Exclusive comedy
During the commercial breaks, guests present at Eko Convention Center, were entertained with comedy performances by two of Nigeria’s leading underground comedians- Senator and Bash.
At different intervals, the pair performed brilliantly, leaving the award attendees reeling with laughter.

2. 30-second timer
On TV, Stanlee Ohikhuare appeared to have been cut off during his acceptance speech for Best Lighting Designer (Movie/Series), but inside the venue, Stanley was shown a visible 30-second timer, hence the sound going off when he elapsed his allocated time.
For some reason, the use of the 30-second timer was stopped after being used for the first few awards, and as such, other awardees were allowed to give long speeches, that lasted beyond 30 seconds.

3. Graveyard silence for Hausa category
It was an embarrassing and at the same time, awkward moment when nominees of the Best Indigenous Film (Hausa) were announced and the room went completely quiet, and hardly did anybody clap.
To make the awkwardness worse, an audio applause had to be cued in by the producers of the show when it appeared the movie makers weren’t too enthused nor inclined to show love to the Hausa category.
However, the rounds of applause were in excess when other categories for other indigenous languages like Yoruba, Igbo and even Swahili, were being announced.
