IBB Denies Killing MKO, Pledge To Support Igbos In 2019

Former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), has said he did not have a hand in the death of Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 election.
The former military head said he received the news of MKO’s death with shock, but without regret.
Contrary to believe that the late philanthropist was served poisoned tea, IBB said he did not play a role if ever the rumour was medically affirmed.
The revelation was made in an interview with ex-boss of The Punch, Azu Ishiekwene.
IBB further spoke on his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari, Mamman Vasta, his childhood friend executed on his orders as well as Sani Abacha, former military ruler.
According to Ishiekwene’s interview, IBB revealed how former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, arranged a meeting between him and Buhari in 2006.
The ex-Commander-In-Chief spoke on the two ‘most traumatic’ coups during his eight-year regime – the Mamman Vatsa and Gideon Orkar coups.
He disclosed that there was a meeting he had with Vatsa before his trial began.
The Interview also covered Dele Giwa and the C130 Hercules plane crash in Ejigbo, that killed 150 military officers dead.
On the agitation for Biafra and the turbulence within the Southeastern region, IBB said there was no need for Biafra agitation.
He also said he will support Igbo to take over power in 2019.
“I will vote for an Igbo president in 2019, if I find one, we do not need this distraction now,” IBB noted.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday, Novermber 10, IBB said that turned down an invitation by the PDP for a rebranding conference.
The former military president, said that he would not seek any political post again in Nigeria.
