The 15-year-old was last seen on Monday and her mother believed she had fallen in with a bad crowd
Police say missing schoolgirl Lauren Cannon has been found safe and well
Fears grew for the teenager after an older man called into her school pretending to be her dad.
Lauren was last seen at the family home in Hawthorn Avenue, Essex, on Monday.
The 15-year-old left home at 7pm saying she was going to stay with a friend but has not been seen since.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday her mum Hayley wrote about her concerns for her daughter's wellbeing, after an unknown man told her school she was sick.
She said: "If anyone sees my daughter Lauren can you please contact 101 quoting incident number, she didn't come home last night and the only information I have is that she is thought to be with a male possibly in his late teens to early twenties.
"We know she is with whoever it is out of choice but who ever this boy/man is called the school pretending to be her dad today.
"The police are trying to trace the call and have been fabulous so far but no further info as yet."
More than 6,000 people shared the post in a bid to find the teenager, and Essex Police have now launched an appeal for her whereabouts.
In an interview with the Brentwood Gazette, Hayley said Lauren had made contact with her father on Tuesday to say 'she wouldn't be coming back'.
The concerned mum told the website: "We know there alcohol is related to this situation and she could find herself in a situation where she is not able to think straight or look after herself.
"Anyone who knows Lauren says she has a good heart.
"I just think she has become a little bit lost with the wrong people who are much older than her and we are very concerned for her safety."
