Hoodlums burn down police station in Jos

Hoodlums burn down police station in Jos

Irate youths in Anguwan Rukuba, in Jos, Plateau State on Monday burnt a police station in the area after members of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Police arrested suppliers and users of a illicit drug known as goskolo on Sunday evening.
ViewPointNigeria gathered that officers of the Nigeria Police force resorted to teargas to disperse the irate youths on Sunday but a witness claimed the youths had returned to the station Sunday night and set it ablaze.
Osaretin Olarinwaju who resides in the area told our correspondent that the youths had also returned to the station on Monday morning to level the structure of the police station to the ground.
She said the altercation between the youths and the police followed the arrest of over 10 suspected suppliers of the illicit drug.
It is known that Anguwan Rukuba is one of the flash point areas for security agents and is known to harbour goskolo suppliers and users in the State.
However, the Commissioner of Police Adekunle Oladunjoye on Monday when asked about the matter said no police station was burnt and that the disagreement was between the vigilante and youths in the area which the police stepped in to calm the situation.
