Man City 0-0 Dynamo Kiev (agg 3-1): Vincent Kompany limps off as City progress - 5 things we learned

Manuel Pellegrini's men sealed their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals after a bore draw at the Etihad on Tuesday

Manchester City progressed to the last eight of the Champions League after a dour clash with Dynamo Kiev at the Etihad.
Manuel Pellegrini's men had a 3-1 lead from the first-leg in Ukraine and barely got out of second gear in the return encounter.
Chances were few and far between for both sides but City did suffer more injury misery.
Both Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi limped off during the first-half - giving Pellegrini a real headache ahead of the Manchester derby.
Here are five things we learned.

1. Kompany cannot stay fit

Just five minutes were on the clock when Kompany pulled up, in an injury-blighted season for the City skipper, who is out of Sunday's must-win derby and facing another lengthy lay-off.

2. Otamendi adds to injury woes

Kompany was followed off the pitch by defensive partner Otamendi 20 minutes later.
City now without their first-choice central defensive pairing for Sunday's crucial derby clash.

3. City fans don't warm to Champions League

Given City were 3-1 up from the first leg and all but through, it was no surprise the game wasn't sold out.
But swathes of empty blue seats show the apathy of some City fans to the Champions League.

4. Kiev failed to take advantage of City's woes

Even with City's first-choice central defenders crocked, the Ukraine champions could not capitalise, failing to trouble their opponents with a truly feeble display.

5. Thirsty work for Ukrainian Press

Their team may have slunk out of the Champions League, but the Ukrainian media made the most of the trip, by disposing of the complimentary beer in the Press room before the game, with more needing to be brought in.
