The President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Sunday,
stated that the National Assembly will published details of its budget
breakdown.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on
Public Affairs to Saraki, Mohammed Isa. The statement noted that Saraki
disclosed this while speaking with editors of London based newspaper
-the Economist.
Saraki stated that: “For the first time we promised Nigerians that
the Senate will disclose its budget breakdown, the committee will make
its report available by next week.
“We are resolved to break the tradition of one line item.”
Saraki, who serves also as the chairman of the National Assembly,
stated that the publication of the budget was the first time in history
and was in line with the anti-corruption drive of the 8th National
Assembly.
The senate president promised that the national Assembly will expose
all forms of corruption He said that the Senate will work with the
President Buhari administration to make sure the anti-corruption war of
the administration succeeds.
