The You're So Vain singer claims Bianca called James Taylor the night before they tied the knot in 1972
Mick Jagger’s
wife tried to stop Carly Simon from getting married the night before
her wedding after ringing her fiancee to claim she was having an affair
with the Rolling Stone.
In her new book the You’re So Vain singer claims Bianca Jagger called James Taylor begging him not to go through with the ceremony.
"James and I were in bed, getting ready for the big day, when the phone rang and James answered. It was Bianca Jagger," Carly writes.
"She told James that he shouldn't marry me because her husband and I were having an affair.
“She muttered some things I couldn't believe she was saying. Then James said, 'I'm sure that's not true. Carly has told me about it and it’s not what you think. I trust my wife-to-be. I trust Carly.'"
Simon and Taylor married in 1972, but despite the marriage Jagger continued to send her roses and gifts occasionally.
Speaking in her new memoir Boys in the Trees, the three-time Grammy winner described having feelings of "raw electricity" between her and Jagger.
She worked with the Rolling Stones frontman during recording sessions on "You're So Vain”.
She said the mutual attraction between them became so intense "having sex would have actually cooled things off."
"If Mick could have his way, it would be Romeo and Juliet tragic,” wrote Carly.
“We couldn't have each other.”
